RISE

Statement of Purpose

RISE exists to help refugees, survivors of war, migrants and ex-detainees from around the world to meet their needs in Australia. RISE will advocate on their behalf to improve government refugee policy and generate social change. RISE runs projects that benefit the welfare of refugees, survivors of war and ex-detainees in Australia.

RISE is a non-profit community-based drop-in centre that welcomes people from diverse educational, cultural and social backgrounds. RISE was formed by refugees and its co-workers and volunteers are from a refugee background. We have experienced the difficulties of settling in Australia and have in-depth knowledge of the social and community welfare system in Australia.

RISE has a long term vision of developing social enterprises that are managed and run by refugees that encourage awareness of the cultural assets of refugees and migrants and build links between its members and the Australian community. It is anticipated that these enterprises will eventually fund the organization.
