“I’m a West-Papuan and came to Australia on a boat. My refugee settlement process started when I first came to Melbourne. But at the start in Melbourne I have no one to be related except out side of my community.”

“I was alone, depressed and sad but I came out of it really well than blaming anyone individually. We are a small community in Melbourne and we all know each other really well. I have been helping my community when ever they have trouble with the public services in Melbourne.”

“Now, I’m volunteering at RISE in for my community to provide a unique welfare service and I would like to help fellow refugees who arrive to Australia an asylum seekers. The RISE project also serves as a model for empowering other refugee communities.”

I’m a Congolese; I left my country because of the conflict between two tribes, and my parents belong to the opposite tribe, that’s why we were forced to move and get refuge in Zambia”.
